As you are likely already well aware of, technology is coming and it’s coming fast. The onset of artificial intelligence and computers has already wiped out so many people and things we previously thought to be irreplaceable when in fact, they were the very opposite. Many people in the music industry have already abandoned physical instruments completely and have decided to go entirely digital. There’s nothing inherently wrong with choosing to do such a thing, however it is important that while we evolve and explore different mediums with which we create music, we stick to what got us here in the first place because there are many things to be gained.
Synthesizer keyboards need to stay relevant because…
1. They have more flexibility
If you’ve ever dealt with both a physical, real synthesizer and a computer program that tries to emulate the same thing, you’ll easily notice that real life synthesizers can do quite a bit more than your average piece of software. Sure, computer program are getting better by the day, but as of right now nothing compares to a true powerful synthesizer keyboard such as a Montage 8.
2. Synthesizers got us to where we are
We should remember the fact that the reason we are even capable of replicating these sounds on other platforms is because we had synthesizers in the beginning. That is not to say we can’t branch out and test other means of creating music, but it does mean that we need to pay respect to the physical keyboards that got us here.
3. Synthesizers are still the most powerful option
In 2018, synthesizers are still the most powerful instruments used to create music. The race is surely getting close but at the moment, synth keyboards are still in the lead.
Conclusion
Perhaps one day we can forget about these wonderful instruments and move on to a more capable and convenient instrument, but it would be wise to stick with the most powerful instrument at the moment. Synthesizer keyboards are fantastic and they need to stay relevant for as long as possible.
